Dedicated to austrian general Joseph Radetzkyvon Radetz to celebrate his comeback from Milan where he fought for 5 days against the italian rebels, Radetzky march is one of the most famous work by Johann Strauss.
The first execution occured on 31st august 1848 at the Wasserglacis in Wien. Nowadays it’s the composition that ends up the New Year’s Concertthat takes place in Wien at the Musikverein. A tradition, during the execution, is the audience clapping their hand in time to the music:
